CHOVAN SPRING 2012 PRAYER LETTER
_______________________________

Dear Faithful Friends, Prayer Partners and Financial Supporters,

Greetings in the name which is above every name, our Lord Jesus Christ.  We trust that your lives are fruitful, productive and active for our Lord.  The prophetic clock is about to strike midnight and we will soon be going home.   "Even so come, Lord Jesus" (Rev. 22:20)

We thank you for your constant prayers and faithful support.  We recently returned from a two month Africa/Europe preaching tour and registered 61 professions of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.  This letter is a report of those ministries in six different countries which took place in February and March of this year.

KENYA AND BURUNDI, AFRICA

I met Robert Mickey in a mission's conference where I was the keynote speaker in Custer, SD, back in 2009.  The mickeys presented their ministry in Nakuru, Kenya, and I was so blessed to know what God was doing there in remarkable ways.  Bro. Mickey started the church 13 years ago in the city of Nakuru, two hours north of Nairobi (and twenty minute drive south of the Equator).  How thrilling to be in the Grace Baptist Church which is now blessed with a Sunday morning attendance of 500 people.  Pastor Mickey has three amazingly gifted African assistant pastors. The church has a thriving 300 student body christian school.  They desperately need to dig a well as water is always in short supply.  I preached in this great church as well as other fellowshipping churches in the area.  There are so many worthy sacrificing pastors in Kenya that I was privileged to be with.  I also preached a pastor's conference on the subject of Baptist Distinctives.  We also visited a game preserve where we saw baboons, giraffes, zebras, jackals, lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Within the Kenya time frame, Bro. Mickey and I boarded a plane for the country of Burundi.  I preached a conference in the church that Grace Baptist sponsors.  This Burundi church is flourishing with great potential for reaching the capital city for Christ.  My conference theme was to expose the errors of the charismatic movement.  We had many pastors and christians come from as far as the Congo.  Both countries were great and have invited us back in 2014.

FRANCE

I flew from Nairobi to rendezvous in Toulouse with Grace and Jonathan.  We were picked up by our host pastor, David Price.  Dave and Melissa have been missionaries in St.Gaudens for over three years.  Dave's parents were missionaries to France so he has a good command of the french language and served as my interpreter for the week of meetings. The church is going well and has every potential for growth. Our home church in Huntsville, AL, supports these fine missionaries so it was a special blessing to observe the work and give a good report to our church.

GERMANY

We flew to Hamburg, Germany, where we were picked up by veteran mission ray and Marleen Virtue.  They have labored planting/pastoring Bible Baptist Church for the past 30 years.  The church has reached many with the saving Gospel of Christ over these years and the church runs about 140 in attendance.  This is the large church of German nationals that I know.  We preached at a special banquet and preached and in the church.  We also drove to Luechow and preached here  which is another church Bro.Virtue pastors.  There is a couple on deputation which has already been called to pastor the Luechow church. We also preached in the city of Nordeustadt with missionary Tim Peterson.  We took a three hour train ride to Berlin where the three of us took a three day vacation.  Jonathan is a WW2 fan and wanted to see Berlin.  While there we did preach a Tuesday night bible study with missionary Mike Talley.  Grace and Jonathan flew back to the States while I went on to Romania

ROMANIA

I had the joy of preaching in four different churches in the cities of Arad, Timisoara and Oradea.  The pastors and saints of God there were such a blessing to be with.  I also preached chapel and taught a class at Emanuel University in Oradea.

HUNGARY

I flew to Budapest to preach a week with the Jim Knies family.  The services were well attended and we had first time visitors every night.  I witnessed a wonderful baptism service where five new believers were baptized Sunday morning.  The next week I preached in Pecs (pronounced "Pach" like peach with an "a").  This city is 2,000 years old and was once occupied by the Roman Empire.  I preached a week in the church pastored by David Potter.  I stayed in the Potter home and Mrs. Porter (Jean) and daughter, Amy (21 years old who is a violin major at the University) were such fine hostesses.  We enjoyed the meetings in both churches.  The Hungarian people are warm and friendly and the believers have a dedicated spirit toward Christ.

We are now back in the USA and are in full swing with our spring schedule in the States of MN, SD, IA, ID, and NV. On June 22 we leave for a two month preaching trip to Peru, S. America.  This is our third time to work there with missionaries Ken and Sharon Loveall. I will then go on to Brazil for two weeks to work with Terry and Wendy Broyles. Thank you following our evangelism trail with us.  God has so blessed our schedule, traveling, and fruitfulness.   God bless each of you,

The Randy Chovan Family
